 Backup data

Access the Backup Wizard is prompted automatically.  To set your backup preferences select FILE - Program Preferences- on the GENERAL tab, under Overall Program Options go to "Remind me to backup __ day(s) and set the how often you wish to backup. 1 will backup each day - 0 will cause backup each time you close the program. Set your preference and close your program. If you do not receive the prompt to backup open and close your program again.
At the Backup Wizard screen click "Next" to proceed.
Manually enter the location where you want to store your backup. For example, c:\ to store your backup on the c drive.  Or use the ellipses to select a location.
Accept the default name (recommended!) or manually enter a name. The extension of your backup file defaults to .ZIP. CAUTION: Backup twice to the same file name and you'll overwrite the existing file!
Click "Next" to continue.
Confirm your backup choices and click "Back" to revise or "Proceed with Backup" to continue.
This screen details Total [data] Files, Total Size and Estimated Zip Size.
TFP or LaserLink indicates if backup was successful.
 

 Restoring Backup

If you are using Windows 98 you will need an uncompress program installed on your computer such as WinZip. If you do not have one you can download WinZip at www.winzip.com or go to our Helpful Links page for a link.

WINDOWS 98 & 2000

Double click on the Zip Backup file and it will open in WinZip, select EXTRACT, when this opens be sure the box "All Files" is checked. The screen will show where  EXTRACT TO , this should read C:\Program Files\TFP2006\DATA, or LSlink2006\DATA if you are using Laser Link. The program will prompt you to "CONFIRM OVERWRITE OF ALL FILES", select this option.   the program will prompt you "CONFIRM OVERWRITE OF ALL FILES" you will select YES TO ALL and the files will be moved to the DATA location . When the extraction is complete the program will  revert back to the screen showing all the files needing to be extracted. You can shut this portion of the program down as it is completed. You will then be able to begin using your program.

WINDOWS  ME OR XP

Double click on the Zip Backup file and the EXTRACT ALL FILES command appears in the FOLDERS TASKS list. Select the EXTRACT ALL FILES the Extraction Wizard starts. You will be prompted to choose a location to place the extracted files, they will need to go to C:\PROGRAM FILES\TFP2006\DATA, or LSlink2006\DATA if you are using Laser Link. Select EXTRACT, the program will prompt you "CONFIRM OVERWRITE OF ALL FILES" you will select YES TO ALL and the files will be moved to the location in TFP. When the extraction is complete the program will  revert back to the screen showing all the files needing to be extracted. You can shut this portion of the program down as it is completed.   You will then be able to begin using your program.
